Urs’ most fun...
hearing from our six year old son Luc about his experiences and adventures at his first 3 day/2 nights camp. Making it to the top of the climbing wall (see photo) was one of his favorites. Sleeping in bunk beds, going to the dining hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner and one day eating four deserts were others.
What Catherine and I really loved was the fact that our sometimes still a bit shy boy was perfectly happy to go to camp all on his own with none of his parents there. All he said on the day he departed: “This is a big day for me.” We couldn’t have agreed more!

If you’re in Maui during the height of humpback whale season (February), it’s hard not to see whales. From October to March, they journey 3,500 miles from the cold, nutrient-rich Alaskan waters to Maui to give birth and court. During a two hour whale watching trip that Simon and I took out of Maalaea Harbor, we observed mothers, their babies and their male escorts as they swam all around and even under our boat, and breached out of the water. The naturalist on board lowered a microphone into the water so we could hear their songs. I discovered while swimming the next day that there is so much whale singing going on that you don’t even need a microphone to hear them – just put your head under water! Amazing!
(Full discolosure on above picture: I grabbed an image off the web as capturing these creatures doing their thing with my point and shoot camera proved very elusive indeed!)
